Interested in paving the way for other women to make an impact in tech? Girls in Tech Nashville is seeking members of our community to join our team. We are looking for team members that are passionate about the Girls in Tech mission and dedicated to supporting professional women enter into, and excel in tech. Join our committed team of volunteers in support of building out the Nashville chapter.

Volunteer Positions

Chief Creative Officer

The Chief Creative Officer volunteer will be an integral part of our Creative and Marketing team and will visually bring the chapters brand to life in any format. This role will design pieces for both internal and external marketing purposes.  He/She will be experienced in graphic design, and will put together online and offline promotional materials. Responsibilities include: Develop and design marketing materials that help increase brand awareness and market; Design a variety of print and digital assets for internal and external use; Create sales sheets, brochures, presentations for new business pitches, training manuals, event and promotional items, print, social media among other assets; Shoot photos and/or videos for website and general marketing purposes; Manage and art direct external creatives used for special projects; Manage relationship with printers and vendors. Must be flexible, ability to work cross-functionally across a growing team. Collaborates closely with the Marketing Manager and Sr. Digital Strategist to design content that aligns with strategic messaging.

The ideal candidate:

This volunteer is a driven, self-motivated, and creative-thinking  individual. Degree or experience in Design or related field with 1-3 years of experience as a graphic designer. Skilled in either UX, web design, and digital advertising. Prior experience in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign and familiarity with Canva, After Effects, iMovie, Final Cut Pro, or WordPress are a plus, but not required. You will have an innate eye for design, exceptional typography, layout and type/image integration skills. The Ability to juggle multiple competing projects, compile and consolidate team inputs, and work independently as well as great attention to detail and sense of urgency.

Marketing Manager

The Marketing Manager volunteer will be responsible for increasing awareness and event attendance by promoting the brand and Girls in Tech messages. In this role, you will create chapter content including articles, event announcements, and speaker highlights for to generate interest and awareness for upcoming events as well as interest in sponsor opportunities. You’ll understand the value of timing for publication before, during and after remote events. You’ll draft a backlog of evergreen articles to publish during slower periods. Following the industry news you’ll be ready to respond to current events with comments or stories with a twist. Organize a schedule for communication including holidays, memorable dates, etc in coordination with the Digital Strategist. You’ll also publish updates from HQ regarding international events and messages.

The ideal candidate:

Organized, self-motivated and creative-thinking, with experience in communications, print, digital marketing or journalism. You will have a strong interest in writing, advertising, and building strong relationships and partnerships with key industry players, measure and report on performance of marketing  campaigns, analyze member/consumer behavior, and budget for marketing campaigns. Must be flexible, ability to work cross-functionally across a growing team. Collaborates closely with the Managing Directors, Chief Creative Officer, Digital Strategist, and Event Production Manager.

Business Development Manager

The Business Development Manager volunteer will be responsible for sourcing leads strategically to build a diverse network of potential panelists, speakers and long-term relationships to secure corporate sponsors, partners, and content contributors. In collaboration with the Event Production and Marketing Manager, you will develop plans for bespoke events to target specific people, organizations and companies who align with the Girls in Tech brand, reaching out to the appropriate point of contact to initiate relationships. Co-create with strategic messaging for social Media and marketing purposes. You’ll also work with the Managing Director and Co-Managing Director to identify and reach out to contacts at organizations for broader chapter support opportunities. Coordinate a team effort to maintain business relationships by executing follow up points with contacts and support the negotiation of partnership/sponsor prospects.

The ideal candidate:

This volunteer is a passionate  and self-motivated individual. He or she will have experience in sales, client management or stakeholder management. We are looking for a proactive person with project management and client skills, strong ability to sell and promote Girls in Tech’s idea and vision. You strive to provide the ideal client/customer experience, are a proven problem-solver. Strong written and communication skills; Strong relationship-building skills and should be extremely detail oriented. Previous experience growing partnerships at technology, corporate, or service-businesses in Tennessee is a plus.

  • Educational outreach – Pay it forward! Teach a soft or hard skill!
  • Referrals – Connect us with your Diversity/Inclusion/HR to promote our jobs board!
  • Consultant – Provide legal, financial, fundraising, marketing, communication and/or operational consulting services
